As I hollered across social media last week, I am so incredibly floored by all of your heartfelt support on my film since its release. It has been equally touching and fascinating to hear your perspectives on the piece, with and without previous knowledge of Chopin or piano music generally, having read my notes on the project before or after viewing, or how your individual experiences with it evolved after watching it several times over. I too have had the strange experience of this work continuing to evolve with its surrounds – at first obvious moves. From my New York apartment living room to a screening room in West Hollywood, a video installation in a cavernous space with fifteen metre ceilings to the sounds of the ocean oblivious to the abstraction of ACT III. So, I wanted to share a few moments from its premiere, where I played ACT II’s soundtrack live with the corresponding visuals running on screens around a piano spewing flames and flowers.
Special thanks to the team at IMG, the Australian Fashion Laureate, LG Australia and Youtube Music for your incredible support in bringing my bizarre imaginations to life.
