In a bout of pre-European aesthetic conditioning, I spent my first dawn in Brisbane floating up and down the river in a gondola.

I lived in Brisbane for years and never knew you could go on a gondola! I’m up here again at the moment actually – might have to jump on, haha. I also really want to see Peter Pan! Oh, and I like to think all Spanish women are like Maria Doyle Kennedy as Catherine of Aragon in The Tudors :)

  • I really loved that first picture in that massive hat! I can only imagine stuffing it into your suitcase (gasp!) or just wearing it through airport security. And the 35mm is perfection!

  • Ah! I nearly jumped out from my bed when I saw you were in Brisbane on Instagram! So near, and yet so far! You must check out Brisbane’s food markets, there are a few in the area on different days, like on Boundary Street Markets (Friday and Saturday nights), New Farm markets and the infamous Eat Street Markets on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s food galore! And yes Brisbane is certainly growing in the creative arena. There’s the occasional Finders Keepers markets ( I used to think it necessary to make my way to Melbourne or Sydney to immerse myself in great food and vibrant culture, but here in Brisbane, the growth astounds me :) All the best on your travels in Barcelona!

  • I remember my last year’s visit to Barcelona. Best days ever! Have a good time. I don’t want to comment on photos because I expect this amazing quality of you Margaret!

  • Your posts are hilarious Margaret. I wish you would write more, I can’t get enough.

  • Hey Margaret, for something quintessentially Spanish you should explore the football tradition, specially the Clasico. Not very ‘cultural’ I know, but oh so exciting :)
