Meet: Hannah Waites

If Hannah Waites isn’t the damn sweetest thing, I’ll never wear boyfriend jeans again.

As seems to be the running trend with all my content this semester, I’ve been meaning to share this shoot of mine for a while now (beyond the odd portfoilo shot on my work site). Even now, severely delayed, I don’t want to indulge too much in text and take away from the imagery. What I will say is that it took all of my will-power not to give fresh face, Hannah Waites, Arwen ears to match her Elvish bone structure and all-seeing baby blues; my new found affection for shooting against black paper in overcast daylight is hella real; I am fascinated with layering powder blues with the most neutral of neutral hues. Hannah was in Year 8 when I was finishing high school, and I distinctly remember telling our music director after a House Music rehearsal that she looked a lot like Rosie Huntington-Whitley-cross-Carolyn Murphy. He said he didn’t know who either of those women were, but he was sure they were lovely.

This is true.

Hannah is also lovely. This was her first test shoot, and she nailed the lot in an hour and a half.

Even Rosie and Carolyn can’t do that.

    Beautiful Margaret!!

  • Very elfin indeed! Her eyes definitely give her an otherworldly aspect, and if she weren’t wearing equipment blouses & jeans I would have thought she came straight out of King’s Landing. She actually reminds me a lot of Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones with that pale hair and those delicate features. She’s very talented as well; I would have never guessed this was her first shoot!

I am amazed at how beautifully this turned out. I would have never suspected this was her first shoot, but honestly the shoot just makes obvious how talented a stylist & photographer you are. I am so impressed with your work, and constantly inspired!

  • amazing shots, Margaret <3 Keep ahead with your creative art works!!

  • Amanda Chan

  • To be honest, she is one of the most uniquely beautiful women I have seen in a while. I thought she looked like a beautiful elf too! So pretty! Your styling and photography never fails to impress me! ^^

  • She is absolutely stunning and well done on these photos they’re out of the ordinary. x

  • birdekko

Amazing! She does look like she should have been from Lord of the Rings! Those eyes are mesmerising!

  • What a stunner, her eyes are divine

  • I’ve never quite seen somebody pull off the hair-so-white-it’s-actually-grey with such style and finesse. And to think this light-eyed beauty is so damn young; wowee, it can only be up-up-and-away for this girl! Your photography and styling is of course the icing on the cake. I couldn’t agree with you more about the subtle icy blue and neutrals combination!

    Love your work as always.

    How tall is she

  • Sharon

What a face! So … she’s still in High School?

I love how the teacher had no idea who those ladies are. Reminds me of the time when Kris Smith walked into the cafe I used to work at and neither my boss nor my co-workers had any idea who he was. And I ended up looking like the idiot …

I stared at her face for a while -fascinated- before i started reading the text, and that is exactly what i was thinking about -that she the elfin charms all over her face! And the way you styled her makes it even better! At this moment there are only few things i can think about that fascinates me more than a normcore elf

  • Marie Liv
