Hey Andrea

For this styling job while in London, I wanted the looks and Sara’s framing to convey some sort of spontaneous newness to a big city.

The sensation of limitlessness is both incredible and incredibly hard to come by in any creative industry. There is always a brief, always somebody to answer to, some logistical restriction… but not this time. Straight up, Sara and I brainstormed a general aesthetic, the lovely ladies of Matches set me loose on their wardrobe, and we ran around London for three sweet hours with the intolerably beautiful Andrea – and let me tell you, the girl can move.

I wanted my styling and Sara’s framing of each shot to convey some sort of spontaneous newness to the city – Miss Andrea was a worldly explorer, striving to avoid the sardined tourist scene and appreciate the corners and back streets over Oxford Circus. Her attire was efficiently tailored, practically polished and straightforward chic. Never afraid of a small check, large check, floral, leather, black-white mish mash. No need for more than a cap and beanie jammed over Winter bed hair, and boots to kick out the cold.  Indeed, being my first week roaming British streets and learning that nobody took EFTPOS, it was not too difficult to give artistic direction. Andrea, can you look like you just realised you should have worn tights today? Andrea, can you look up like the guy on the bike just shouted Hey pretty lady?

Needless to say, there are a fair few pieces in there that have my personal stamp of requirement for both the Australian fall crisping as we speak, and my impending European Summer – Alex has a day count happening already.

But for now, have my styling references, and a little wishlist extension:
