The last time I wore these perfect TOPSHOP trousers of mine, I was traipsing the cold in New York Fashion Week in all-red. I have a habit of pigeon-holing my favourite statement pieces into specific looks, which often means that I don’t get as much wear out of it as I’d initially intended. So, when I picked up this perfect Secret Squirrel top (that’s on sale for $99 this week – winning), there was no question that these pants had to come out to play again. Had the red of the trousers exactly matched the red triangles of this print, the colour coordination wouldn’t have been nearly as casual, nor relaxed despite the breezy fit and wide legs – so unless you’re going to head-to-toe one colour, keep that in mind for your next matchy-matchy escapade.

Surely you’ve all realised by now that I’m hopelessly obsessed with tortoiseshell sunglasses – certainly my Karen Walkers have gotten a ridiculous workout in this corner of the internets, but this DITA pair is striking up some competition. They’re slightly narrower height-wise, and perhaps a little wider for a sleeker cat-eye, which I always appreciate.
